Match.com, the online singles dating site that holds the Guinness World Record for the largest number of users in the world, including 800,000 users in Spain, is celebrating Valentine’s Dayby winning its second Guinness Record for the creation of the world’s heaviest chocolate construction: a seven ton heart. The 5 meter wide by 4 meter high by 0.7 meter thick heart was created by the Spanish PR & marketing agency MARCO de Comunicación and dedicated by Rocío Madrid.

The heart is located on the patio of the Hard Rock Café at El Paseo de la Castellana 2, on the corner of Plaza Colón. The heart will remain on display from Friday, February 13th until next Thursday, February 19th. Afterwards it will be divided up among NGOs, the Food Bank, and the social welfare organization Solidarios para el Desarrollo to be distributed to homeless people and other disadvantaged groups. The construction of the enormous chocolate heart took a 10-person team led by the famous Catalan confectioner Luis Morera 5 days to complete.

On Saturday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day), Match.com also hosted a party for more than 800 singles in the la Riviera lounge, which included, among other activities, a speed dating in which 80 singles had the opportunity to find their mate.

The 7 ton chocolate heart, which made the Guinness World Record for being the heaviest chocolate construction, was created by Match.com, the singles dating site that, with 12 million members, already holds a Guinness record for the largest number of users in the world. For its second Guinness World Record, Match.com relied on the collaboration of the ICC (Institute of Cocoa and Chocolate, to which all chocolate makers in Spain belong), Spain’s number one chocolate producer Chocovic, and Luis Morera, the confectioner who was the architect behind the world’s largest candy.
Luis Morera was also part of the team that won the Guinness World Record for building the tallest chocolate construction: a boat 8.5 meters high, 13 meters long, and 2.5 meters wide made in Barcelona.
The chocolate used in making the heart was a blend of dark chocolate known as Costa Rica, which contains 45% cocoa with 27% cocoa butter and was made by Chocovic.
